Thursday 14th December: Origins (Creative Food)
How it all started - Class Session
Looking back to the beginning of the Semester, I think we started out with great promise. Now I'm getting a little sentimental here but one of the first sessions we did was called Creative Food as you may in fact be able to tell by the title of this post. It was a very simple task where we were split into groups and we had to come up with various things which would inspire within us creativity! What made us start to make things? Well, the board once we were done, looked a little like this:
Now I must express that not all things mentioned on the board necessarily apply to me! However, I did let my teacher side out a little and ended up standing by the board with the pen being really quite enthusiastic about the whole thing! I have no evidence for this, unfortunately you'll just have to believe me.
One of my favourite idea generation catalysts I put up there, was boredom! The fact that when you're bored, that's when you're at your most creative! You want to exercise your mind, you want to create! Anything to alleviate the boredom! And that's how it's been for any inventor or scientist as well as artists. We get bored as humans, so we just start being productive on our own. Through creativity or otherwise. Personally, I think it's quite amazing to have this system built into us.
