Post 5 - Documentary: Roughly refining
Reviewing the Rough -
Here we are, almost at the end. The documentary has been filmed in it's entirety, the footage is converting into a readable format for my editing software, and we have the first bit of footage to reveal itself to the public! So, I give you, the Abbeydale Picturehouse first rough cut!

Due to issues with the footage format, and the sheer number of clips I've got to work my way though, it's taken much longer than I would have liked to get this done. Hence why we only have an intro to show for it. Regardless, here are some comments from people who also watched this rough cut!
Here are my own thoughts:
The filter that made the film appear quite old timey was an experimental decision from me. I understand others quite enjoyed it but held the opinion that it should not last throughout the entire film, and should just be in the intro. I'd originally gotten the idea after reviewing the drone footage, and realising the low light levels were making the footage quite grainy. Putting a filter over the top which benefits from grain was my personal workaround. I was not able to use this for all the drone shots due to my decision to keep it in the intro, and as a result, I've stuck to keeping the drone shots relatively sparse and short.
The music was apparently an excellent choice. It was mentioned that it sounded quite nostalgic, which is the perfect atmosphere we want to go for considering the history of the building. The title text was also an experimental decision. The colour and font were apparently not popular choices, and after considering changing it to be a little more fitting, I have since decided to cut text from the film entirely, as it seems to work better without any. I considered this first showing to be quite promising for the final production.
